Nuremberg Trials

The Nuremberg Trials began in 1945 to deal with Nazi war criminals. Our own Nuremberg Trials weren’t as serious, but offered their own drama. Our day started easily, with a pleasant drive through the German countryside from Dresden to Nuremberg. Of special interest to some of the chaperones were farms growing hops, which are easily identified by the vines creeping up tall supports. Most of the fields were full of wheat.

Lunch in Nuremberg featured their local little sausages, a nice change from the bratwurst and currywurst of Berlin. As we gathered at the Beautiful Fountain (really- that’s what it’s called) for our drive to Munich, we learned that our bus had a duel with a truck and lost. No big damage, but his rear view mirror was totaled and we were stranded. Four hours and many phone calls later, a second bus came. We transferred all our loot and continued on to Munich. The only real damage was to our bank accounts- four hours of extra shopping time! The Obama economic stimulus plan for Germany continues!
